Sunny Retreat – A Summer Story in the Suburbs of Patras

Every summer house holds memories — long afternoons, family gatherings, the rhythm of cicadas in the background. This project began as a familiar place in need of renewal, and through the renovation, it was transformed into a bright, modern retreat that still whispers the essence of Mediterranean summers.

The living and kitchen area was opened up to allow light to flow freely, highlighting the wooden ceiling beams that connect the past with the present. The choice of materials was not only aesthetic but narrative: oak floors to ground the space in warmth, lime-based plasters that breathe with the building, and handcrafted joinery that recalls traditional craftsmanship.

In the bathroom, patterned tiles bring a playful freshness, while the steel-and-glass partition introduces a contemporary edge — a dialogue between nostalgia and modern clarity.

What was once a modest summer shelter has become a timeless retreat. Here, design and construction meet memory and atmosphere, creating a space where every detail invites its residents to slow down, to reconnect, and to live summer differently.
